How They're Built
Every Rotosound string is manufactured in the UK at their facility in Sevenoaks, Kent. The process starts with precision-drawn steel core wire, wound with nickel-plated steel (for electric strings) or phosphor bronze (for acoustic strings) to exacting tolerances developed over six decades of refinement.
Quality control runs through every stage of production. Wire is tested for consistency before winding, and finished sets undergo tension and intonation checks. Each set is sealed in factory-fresh foil packaging to preserve that bright, just-wound tone until you open them.
Rotosound pioneered the roundwound bass string in 1962, an invention that changed the sound of modern music. That same innovative spirit drives their electric and acoustic ranges today. The combination of silky nickel wrap and powerful steel core that defines their Rotos electric range has been refined across decades of feedback from professional touring musicians.
What Sets Them Apart
The Rotos range (R9, RH9, RH10 and their variants) uses a nickel-on-steel construction that delivers bright, punchy tone with excellent sustain. The hybrid gauges (Orange 9-46 and Blues 10-52) are particularly popular with players who want light trebles for lead work with heavier bass strings for solid rhythm playing.
The Jumbo King acoustic range uses phosphor bronze wrap wire, which delivers a warmer, richer fundamental than standard 80/20 bronze and maintains its brightness significantly longer. Available in extra light (10-50), light (11-52), and medium light (12-54) gauges.
