How They're Built
Every Lost Soul Leather product is made entirely by hand by Krystian in the UK. There are no sewing machines, no shortcuts, no factory processes. Each cut, hole, and stitch is done by hand with care and intention. The stitching is hand-saddle-stitched, a technique that produces a stronger and more durable seam than any machine stitch. Edge finishing and smoothing are performed manually to produce a clean, refined profile.
The leather is full-grain vegetable-tanned, sourced responsibly from UK tanneries. Krystian uses a leather called Lyveden, a premium UK-produced vegetable-tanned hide that develops a rich patina with age. Buckles and thread are also sourced from within the UK. Every component comes from reputable British manufacturers in the leather trade.
Custom orders are a core part of the business. Each strap is measured to the customer's specifications, typically from their existing strap's hole-to-hole measurement, with four extra holes (two above, two below) for adjustment. Customers choose their leather colour, stitching colour, and hardware finish to create something uniquely theirs.
What Sets Them Apart
What makes Lost Soul Leather straps different is Krystian's background as a professional touring guitar technician. He has worked with artists including Kiefer Sutherland, Belle and Sebastian, and Demob Happy. That touring experience means every design decision is informed by what actually works on stage, night after night. Weight distribution, button hole placement, flexibility under movement, and how a strap ages under heavy use have all been refined through years of real-world observation.
The strap designs each have distinct character. The Wolf is a thicker cut with a tapered adjustment toward the back, showcasing the leather colour with subtle stitching accents. The Clint is a slimmer profile with a hand-stitched shoulder pad for weight distribution. The Fat Nail is a minimalist wide strap, favoured by touring musicians for its no-fuss reliability. Some leathers develop a warm patina over time while others stay consistent, letting the customer choose the ageing profile they prefer.
